Empower small businesses to take center stage. - Daisuke Sasaki freee K.K Co-founder & CEO

As a CFO at a startup, through my experience in small business marketing at Google, and growing up in a family that has operated a hair salon for generations, I have seen firsthand the incredible opportunities and challenges that small businesses in Japan face. I've seen how technology can be underutilized, and I've seen the burdensome nature of back-office tasks—particularly accounting and payroll—which often strain the core operations of these businesses.

Determined to make a difference, I took action in 2012. I founded freee and launched Accounting freee, now known as freee Accounting. Our journey began with a simple yet powerful mission: "Empower Small Businesses to Take Center Stage."

Under this mission, we aim to create a society where anyone can manage a business freely by providing Japan’s only "integrated management platform" tailored for small businesses. As of the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025, our services have been adopted by over 600,000 customers, achieving an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of more than 34 billion yen. Our group has also expanded to over 1,900 employees, and we achieved profitability for the first time since our founding.

In addition to advancing our broad service lineup, led by "freee Accounting" and "freee HR," we have worked to deliver the value of the "Togo Flow (Integrated Flow)," announced in 2024 to address the three key fragmentations in small business management, to even more customers. It is encouraging to receive feedback that our services have successfully resolved the fragmentation of Work Flow, Communication Flow, and Data Flow.

Furthermore, at "freee TOGO World 2025," a conference connecting management and back-office operations held on May 14, 2025, we announced initiatives to fuse "AI" with this "Togo Flow." Through this initiative, our services will go beyond mere back-office efficiency. By leveraging the rich data accumulated in freee products and our broad operational coverage, we will serve as a management partner, further evolving the management and organization of small businesses.

Looking ahead, we will continue to drive speedy product development based on the "Togo Flow." Under our mid- to long-term strategy starting from the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, we are committed to establishing ourselves as the "De Facto Standard for Small Business" by expanding our customer base and achieving widespread market penetration of freee products.

Our Product Development Efforts (Togo Flow(Integrated Flow))

Many small businesses struggle with fragmented operations, making it challenging to visualize and manage their business effectively. To address this, we developed "Togo Flow(Integrated Flow)", a common technological infrastructure that underpins our products.
This framework, built on the design principles established since our founding, integrates Work Flow, Data Flow, and Communication Flow to address operational inefficiencies, streamline communication, and ensure seamless data flow. By leveraging Togo Flow, businesses can achieve greater efficiency, seamless communication, and enhanced data visualization, all without fragmentation. We are committed to expanding Togo Flow across additional areas with speed and precision, delivering a unified, high-level user experience.
